New Onshore Wind Farm Approved

A 19 turbine onshore wind farm project, to be built by developer Peel Energy, has received the go-ahead for construction. The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has approved the wind farm, which will be built near Frodsham in Cheshire and generate enough electricity to power up to 25,000 homes in the area. It will also offset around 50,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year.

Constructing the 57 megawatt project will also create around 50 jobs, with some long-term positions also being created when the wind farm becomes operational. People living in and around the Frodsham area will also benefit from a community fund which will be set up by the developers.

Wilding says: It’s always good to see new renewable energy projects going ahead. And it just goes to show that, whatever the media might say, there’s a lot of public support out there for the onshore wind industry.
